Classic Buses preserved in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, not too many bus companies are willing to preserve the classic bus. The reason for this is because of the high preservation cost. However, there are still some companies would spend their money out of profit to preserve some decommissioned buses. For example, the Kowloon Motor Bus, the China Motor Bus, and also the Hong Kong Transport Society.

In the early 70's, the China Motor Bus converted a Tilling Stevens K5LA7 into classic bus. And then re-registered as HK104. The interior was retained the layout of 40's with first class and second class divided.

Later in the year 1983, the Kowloon Motor Bus converted its first chassic bus. It was the Daimler CVG5 double-decker bus. It is the model of the first double-decker bus introduced to Hong Kong since 1949. After the success of preserving the Daimler CVG5, KMB was then converted a AEC Regent Mk.V, a Albion EVK55CL,and also a number of Daimler E.

In the early 90's, the Hong Kong Transport Society established and reserved a number of buses which have been retired. Most of the buses are the Guy Arab from the China Motor Bus.
