CMB Dennis Dominator ( DD / SD )
In the early of 1979, Dennis introduced the first Dominator to China Motor Bus for demonstration in Hong Kong. The bus fitted with East Lancashire Coachbuilders bodywork with 10.2-metre in length. It is powered by a Gardner 6LXB engine and transmitted with Voith D851 fully-automatic gearbox. CMB registered the bus as BX2164 with fleet number as DD1.
With the success of the trials undertaken with the DD1, CMB made an order of 6 Dennis Dominator in 1982. The new buses are bodied with Walter Alexander RL-type bodywork with 9.6-metre in length and are low-bridge in specification, so as to suitable for serving on the Peak-routes. The engine and transmission are similar to the DD1. CMB later fleeted them as SD1-SD6. For the first three Dominator (SD1-SD3), they were using the convention leaf springs suspension while the others (SD4-SD6) were installed with the vastly superior air-bag suspension.
