CMB / NWFB Leyland Victory Mk.II ( LV )
In October 1979, the China Motor Bus started to introduce the Leyland Victory Mk.II to serve on the Hong Kong Island. The first Victory Mk.II of CMB was assembled the Walter Alexander CB-type bodywork in CMB North Point depot. It was then being registered as CA9169 with fleet number LV1 on October 3, 1979. The LV1 had put into services on Route 41 serving between North Point Ferry and Wah Fu Estate with its high passenger capacity amounted to 118. The performance of the LV1 was found to be very successful.
On between the 1979 and 1982, CMB totally acquired 167 Leyland Victory Mk.II for serving in Hong Kong. The first 147 Victory Mk.II were fitted with the Walter Alexander CB-type while the later 20 (LV148 - LV167) were bodied with Duple Metsec bodywork. The totally passenger capacity of Alexander bodied Victory Mk.II was 10 more than the Duple Metsec bodied one.
About the power of the Victory Mk.II, all of the bus had installed with Gardner 6LXB engine with cylinder capacity 10.45 litres. The maximum power output can be reached to 180bhp. Most of the Victory Mk.II were fitted with standard Voith DIWA-851 automatic gearbox, the LV138 had ever installed the Leyland SCG350 automatic gearbox for trial but not successful, it was then changed back to use the Voith gearbox later.
In September 1998, the New World First Bus commenced the franchised bus services on the 88 routes originally operated by the China Motor Bus. Other than acquisition of the new buses, NWFB also acquired a number of second-hand fleets from China Motor Bus, that included totally 163 Victory Mk.II. However, after the delivery of the new buses, the Victory Mk.II had all been retired from franchised services of NWFB on or before August 2000.
