Discovery Bay Transit

Recent years, the Discovery Bay is now developing more rapidly. The Discovery Bay Transit Services Ltd have to acquire more buses to meet the high demand of passengers.

Before 1994, most of its fleets were ordered from Japan. Afterward, many bus builders introduce several types of buses here. Just like Mercedes-Benz, MAN from Germany and Dennis from British. One of the similar things regarding these buses is that they are all "Environmentally Friendly Buses".

Since May 27 of 2000, the Discovery Bay Tunnel was being opened and that connected between Discovery Bay and Siu Ho Wan. The Discovery Bay Transit was then introduced two new external RS routes towards the Hong Kong International Airport and the Tung Chung Town Centre from Discovery Bay.

After the acquisition of the 5 MAN NL262/R and 2 MAN 13.220 in the May 2000, the Discovery Bay Transit introduced 2 MAN NL263/R and MAN NL212/R in October 2001 and June 2002 respectively. These NL263/R only fitted with single doorway for both entrance and exit, whilst the NL212/R fitted with dual doorways for separating entrance and exit, and acted as the new fleets of Shopper Bus. In the mid of August 2002, at least 4 new MAN NL263/R delivered to the Discovery Bay Transit. The specifications of the new bus are just similar to the one acquired in October 2001, but fitted with dual doorways.
