KMB Leyland Olympian 2-axle ( BL )

Since 1981, Kowloon Motor Bus started to acquire new type of rear-engine buses for serving in Hong Kong, that is Leyland Olympian.

Leyland Olympian is a British-built rear-engine bus chassis. The first 3 Olympian 2-axle buses prototype for KMB were all fitted with Eastern Coachworks bodywork with total length 10.3-metre. KMB then fleeted these buses as BL1 - BL3.

Later in 1983, during the year, KMB acquired totally 3 batches of the Leyland Olympian 2-axle with 50, 40, 30 buses on each batch respectively. Although the Olympian in every batches are all bodied with Walter Alexander bodywork, there are still some minor differences exist. For the first batch, BL4 - BL53, a larger staircase parts are being used. For the second batch, BL54 - BL93, the passenger capacity is to be increased. For the third batch, the last batch, BL94 - BL123, the cabin ventilation system is being installed, also the windows also changed to the light-blue one.
