KMB Dennis Trident 10.6metres (ATS) In the December 1999, the Kowloon Motor Bus introduced a short version of Dennis Trident to Hong Kong. Although the New World First Bus have been introduced the same type of Trident to HK since May 2000, the bodywork which KMB chosen was the Duple Metsec DM5000 bodywork which is different from the Alexander ALX500 bodywork the NWFB have chosen. Although the passenger capacity of the Duple bodied Trident 10.6m is fewer than fitted with Alexander bodywork, it is seemed that KMB would like to distinguish the bodywork with different chassis. That is the Alexander bodywork will be fitted onto the Volvo Super Olympian B10TL while the Trident will be bodied with Duple Metsec bodywork. After the first batch of 50 Trident 10.6m have been served for one and a half year, the second batch of 50 Trident 10.6m are being assembled in the KMB Tuen Mun Bus Body Construction Depot in the mid of 2001. As the Duple Metsec does not provide anymore CKD bodywork, KMB have to choose the Walter Alexander ALX500 bodywork to be fitted onto the chassis. Another special thing is that there are two Tridents from the second batch order are equipped with Euro III standard engine provided by Cummins. These two Tridents (ATS96, ATS97) have been painted with Magic Green special livery and named as Green Bus.
