KMB Leyland Victory Mk.II ( G5 - G544 )

Basing on the concept of GUY Victory J, after the acquisition of LEYLAND Bus-division, the LEYLAND Victory Mk.II was being developed and introduced to Hong Kong for the Kowloon Motor Bus.

The Kowloon Motor Bus totally acquired 540 LEYLAND Victory Mk.II in the period from 1979 to 1983. Those Victory Mk.II can be divided into certain batches and there are some improvement on the Walter Alexander KB-type bodywork between those batches. That included the deepness of the windscreen and the location of the radiator filter-cap.

In the early of acquirement, LEYLAND also introduced a Victory Mk.II, which built as a fully air-condition system. However, as the performance of the bus cannot be satisfied and thus the air-conditioning unit was being removed in 1983. After performed the changes, the bus was renumbered as G544.

As the LEYLAND Victory Mk.II used front engines and the platform was quite high, that could not meet the modern requirement nowadays. Those buses started to retire since the mid of 90's and finally all those Victory Mk.II retired from the Kowloon Motor Bus after 31st March 1998.
