NWFB Dennis Trident 12metres / Duple Metsec DM5000 body

On the early of November 1998, New World First Bus introduced another type of Dennis Trident 12metres other than the one bodied with Walter Alexander ALX500 bodywork. That is the Duple Metsec DM5000 bodied Trident.

In the first batch of Duple Metsec bodied Trident, totally 42 buses are being acquired. The assembling of the bodywork are taken place in the Northern Counties factory in UK. And that is the second generation of the Duple Metsec DM5000 bodywork. The changes on the 2nd generation compared with the 1st generation can be found on the location of the rear-route displayer, fuel lid on the off-side, etc. The bus installed 91 Scandus seats where 59 in the upper saloon and 32 in the lower saloon. Maximum passenger capacity can be up to 133. NWFB fleeted those buses as #3001 to #3042.

In the mid of November 1998, New World First Bus announced that the second batch of 222 super-low floor buses will be ordered. That included 20 Duple Metsec DM5000 bodied Trident. The bodywork will be assembled in the Caetano factory in Portugal. There are some minor changes of the bodywork with the 2nd generation one. Totally 57 seats and 32 seats are being fitted in the upper deck and the lower deck respectively. Maximum passenger capacity can also reach to 133. The fleet number is allocated as #3043 to #3062.
