NWFB Dennis Trident 10.3metres / Duple Metsec DM5000 body

In the end of 1999, the New World First Bus introduced a new type of DENNIS Trident III to Hong Kong, they are the Duple Metsec DM5000 bodied DENNIS Trident 10.3metres. Fitted with the low-height DM5000 bodywork, this new range of Trident III is specialized for serving on the hilly routes such as Shek O Road and the Peak.

Totally 40 of these Trident III are being acquired and put into services in the period from December 1999 to May 2000. The technical parts of these Tridents are similar to the one currently used in Hong Kong, that is the Cummins M11-305E engine and the Voith DIWA-863.3 automatic gearbox. However, after assembled with the Duple Metsec DM5000 low-height bodywork, the overall height is just 4.17metres. The overall length also decreased to 10.3metres as the entrance is becomes narrower. Moreover, these Tridents also installed with tree-protector which can protect the front glasses on the upper-deck from being damaged by tree branches.
